What I liked

Great people. Physical job that got me in shape. Many different tasks to do so it never got boring. I've been having a great experience at The Home Depot.

What I wish was different

We were very understaffed at times due to a variety of obstacles related to COVID-19. This made the work more stressful and hard to accomplish at times.

Advice

If you're looking for a basic job that has decent pay and benefits, the Home Depot is your place. Great for working on people skills and physical fitness.

What I liked

The Home Depot call center has a wonderful environment and opportunities for growth, such as participation in the LEAD program and other positive groups/opportunities, such as Toastmasters public speaking preparation, Homer Fund charity donation, Built from Scratch Veteran Volunteer projects, and many more.

What I wish was different

I wish I has started going to school and working full time earlier than just this semester, rather that just working full time. That way I could be closer to my degree sooner and take advantage of the benefits.

Advice

Take advantage every opportunity within your power, even if it scares you. Pushing yourself our of your comfort zone is the most effective way to test yourself and provide opportunities for growth.

I wish there would have been an opportunity to do something else other than cashiering. It gets boring standing there all day waiting for customers to come check out.

It is a great summer job with great pay. If you keep working with them then there is a chance to get a new position within the company and work your way up.

I wish the way I was trained in was different as I was confused a lot and didn't know how to ask certain questions. Additionally, within my first month I was working alone at times. I figured it out, but it was still scary.

You got this! Don't take people's words personally. There's a lot of customers who just need to take their frustrations out on an associate.

If you're supplying anyone with a service of any type, the best thing you can do is ask questions about what they expect/want, and be honest with what is feasible. Sometimes you cant give people exactly what they want, so let them know their realistic options.

I most enjoyed being taken under the wings of the mechanics and learning how to fix and maintain various types of equipment from small engines to electric tools.

I wish the unstable situation with keeping coworkers and the situation regarding changing management were handled more gracefully.
