I liked that I could work from home and choose when I would have my thirty minute lunch break and when I could clock in (7am or 8am). I also liked the community we had with our co-workers. If one person did not know how to do something, we would get on Teams and someone would always help out.
What I wish was different
I wish I would not had to work on weekends. I also wish they would have trained us better; we had to work on things we weren't trained for and basically figure it out ourselves. I was always burnt out.
Advice
Be ready to work long hours (10-12 hours daily) and one weekend day.

What I liked
It was educational and inspiring. I had a great mentor who was hands-on in my growth and development during my time at the internship. He is from southern California and a UC alumni so we had a lot to talk about. Just being in that city exposes everyone to so many different professions and careers. I had access to high level government officials that were willing to share their personal experiences with me.
What I wish was different
I wish I had known about these internships sooner.
Advice
Try new things and get out of your comfort zone. You never know what you may find. A figure-it-out attitude is much appreciated over waiting for step by step instructions.
