SoundOff Signal

Marketing Intern

April 2023 • Hudsonville, MI

What I liked

I was encouraged to always share my ideas and felt like I was a valued member of the team! I also enjoyed being able to try many different types of marketing (social media, trade shows, CRM, etc.).

What I wish was different

Advice

Don't be afraid to share your ideas. At first I was afraid to speak up during meetings and thought "why would my opinion matter? I'm just an intern." But even as an intern, I had unique perspectives and ideas to bring to the table.

Sales intern

June - August 2019 • Hudsonville, MI

What I liked

The culture of soundoff was by far the most welcoming I have ever experienced. Everyone was on the same page and helped me through things I wasn't sure about.

What I wish was different

I did a lot of data entry but it wasn't bad.

Advice

Working well with your co-workers makes all the difference. Having the confidence to ask questions when you aren't sure is super important and builds trust.

What I liked

Got to learn new stuff like mini welding and how emergency vehicle lights are made

What I wish was different

That i could've experienced some other section other than the assembly lines

Advice

Connections are pretty important, since i got the job via one. Also, employment agencies like Manpower and PoepleLink are useful to find jobs nearby

factory

January - July 2018 • Hudsonville, MI

What I liked

I liked the wage, hours, and overtime.

What I wish was different

The way management handled issues and problems between coworkers.

Advice

Know what kind of people you're going to be working amongst in the industrial/factory industry. Especially if you're a woman, you won't always be treated fairly and as an equal to or by you male counterparts.
