Gilead Sciences

Sustainability Intern - Product Stewardship

June - August 2023 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

Really warm and friendly work environment, I felt like I was able to make a tangible impact within my team, great on-site amenities like the gym and cafes

What I wish was different

More frequent communication/updates from Early Talent Recruiting Team following the end of the internship

Advice

Gilead is an awesome biotech company in the Bay Area and should set you up for a successful career if you put in the work - if you get this internship I highly recommend taking your own car and booking your own housing (instead of using their shared intern housing) with the lump sum relocation money they give you. This way you can live close to campus and have a way to explore the area on weekends.

Advice

Don't be afraid to talk to people outside your department. I learned much more than I expected when I talked to senior staff even from different locations.

Internal Audit Intern

June - September 2020 • Foster City, CA

What I liked

I liked how diverse and close the internal audit team was. People there treated each other with respect and there was this professional and fun relationship among employees.

What I wish was different

I wish the position was not remote because I feel like I would have built better connections and got more experience interning in person.

Advice

When given an opportunity, always take it. I was a little skeptical about how much a remote internship would benefit me, but I gained so much experience and knowledge over the few months. My experience gave me a better insight into the auditing world, the pharmaceutical industry, and how businesses operate in the US.
