Marketing Intern

May - July 2022 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I was grateful to be able to work in the very supportive yet formal environment that Sunglass Hut provided. I also enjoyed my time at any and all intern events, because no matter what we were doing, I was able to spend some time with people both similar and different to me that are my age as well. I was very appreciative of all of the perks, the glasses, sunspire points, oakley and Ray Ban swag, etc.

What I wish was different

I wish that we had more intern exclusive events. the workplace is important, but I believe it is also important to connect with people like you in particular.

Advice

This is a great introduction to the workforce, while the environment is likely more comfortable than other businesses, the experience and work is real and provides a lot of opportunity to learn.

Communications (EyeMed) Intern

May - August 2022 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

Pretty much everything. If you've ever been worried about having a bad internship, you don't have to worry at Luxottica. I worked at EyeMed in Mason, Ohio doing Internal Communications and it was truly a wonderful experience. From the University Relations team, whose entire task is to coordinate interns, to my individual team, this experience was one for the books. I was immediately integrated into the team, sending emails, writing stories, assisting with communications campaigns and so much more. The cherry on top is that because of the organization, there are some pretty nice perks as well.

What I wish was different

It will be different for every intern, but I was the only intern on my team which at times was a little lonely. Additionally, in the organization I worked in (EyeMed under Luxottica) the organization was overwhelmingly white. Even though they do a good job of supporting DEI initiatives, the organization is still really white.

Advice

Go for it! Even if the role isn't exactly what you wanted, you can learn so much from Luxottica (and in my case EyeMed). Regardless of where you're at, those around you will guide you to ensure your success.

What I wish was different

I wish I worked for the luxottica branch and I had an internship with the company.

It is a position where you need to be comforable talking to others, and having the urge to want to know more about who you are selling to.

Business Development Intern

May - August 2018 • Mason, OH

What I liked

I loved the atmosphere- everyone was warm and welcoming. Another perk was the internship program- 27 of us interns had so much fun together and made the experience that much richer. Also, the work was challenging and I improved my excel skills exponentially.

What I wish was different

I wish my manager had introduced me to more of my coworkers in the beginning of the internship. Also, I wish the project that I was supposed to work on hadn't changed before the internship began- it made it a hard scramble for work I wouldn't have otherwise had to do.

Advice

I would advise whoever works at Luxottica to do two things: communicate frequently with your manager and network like crazy.

Internal Audit Intern

May - August 2019 • Mason, OH

What I liked

I loved the office and the company culture. Everyone was so friendly and chill. It didn’t really feel like a corporate office!

What I wish was different

My work was good for a month, but then I hit a wall. There was a lack of variety which made my day-to-day work a little dull.

Advice

If you work here, take advantage of the knowledge that’s around you. I networked quite a bit throughout the day and learned so much about areas of business I didn’t know about.

What I liked

The internship program at Luxottica is very well established and extremely helpful in not only meeting new interns, but also broadening your professional skillset. I loved the environment– the Mason office is beautiful and promotes health and fitness while working. Interns also benefit from being placed on a team with a manager and mentor who deeply care about the growth of the intern.

Fleet Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Mason, OH

What I liked

I LOVED my team! Everyone was super supportive of me and committed to my development and treated me as if I was a part of the Luxottica family, even though it was my first professional experience. My managers took time with me every week to teach me new skills and were committed to my success as an intern. On top of that, I got to work on some really impactful projects that are still used by the business today and is great experience to put on my resume.

What I wish was different

Nothing. I can not imagine a better experience from my role on my team, and the intern program as a whole. They was a plethora of intern events that were tailored to professional development, networking, volunteering, or just hanging out and getting to know the fellow interns better! I loved my experience so much that I accepted an offer to stay on the team in the fall and work full time for the rest of the year.

Advice

Be curious! Don’t be too prideful to ask or accept offered help. Learning comes from asking questions and being curious as to WHY you’re doing something versus WHAT you’re doing. Obviously use your resources to try and answer the question you have first, but do not hesitate to ask because everyone is happy to help.
