My coworkers are really friendly, I'm able to get time off for vacation over the summer, I get to help people in need, and I work in a newly remodeled workplace.

What I wish was different

I wish to get paid more per hour. I am planning to work my way up into management or transfer to a different department after I graduate from Grand Valley.

You have to take your job seriously in order to be taken seriously. Be honest and punctual.

Get involved as soon as you can. Getting a job that relates to your field of interest not only gives you an introduction into that field, but also gives you ways to network. And definitely Job shadow any job or position you are interested in.

I love the experience I am getting in the medical field as I work towards my nursing degree. Spectrum is an amazing employer. I am able to apply what I learn in school to working and vice versa. It is great also to go through the interview and networking process.

I loved the ability to work in a great team environment and with a employer who cares a lot about their employees. I also loved working with residents who want to have a great time, and providing experiences for them to do so is so rewarding.

What I wish was different

I wish the hours I worked we're a bit more flexible. It is a lot to manage along with a full time course load.

Advice

Make sure you are clear about your availability and what you are able to manage. It is easy to over schedule yourself in this position because it is so fun and rewarding. But make sure you are taking care of your other commitments as well.

I like the flexibility of the job, and I feel like I am getting good exposure to the flow of the hospital.

I felt a little rushed into the position, the training was very fast paced and a lot of the job I have had to learn on my own.

I like the fact that I could get into the health system and learn more about what it means to take care of patients and work in a health care position. I also got tuition assistance and work along side amazing coworkers

I wish that the use of PTO was more flexible, but I am able to navigate my way through work and school

It teaches you a lot, if you are willing to learn. I recommend this for anyone who is interested in getting into the health field. Its a good way to gain some experience, earn some money, and network.
