School Social Worker

General Job Description: We are looking for School Social Workers with Master’s degrees from an approved program in social work, or a program deemed equivalent by the VA Department of Education. 

Essential Job Functions:  Assess and evaluate students; Problem-solve services and collaborate with students, parents, school personnel, or community agencies; Referral and linkage with community service providers; Identification of students at risk; Counseling, individual or group; Participate as a member of the school Child Study Team; Make FAPT (Family Assessment and Planning Team) referrals and follow-up; Maintain and uphold School policies and procedures; Experience working with children with emotional disabilities and autism is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of social work theory, practice, and procedures; ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with school professionals, students, parents, and community; ability to write comprehensive reports; ability to interpret findings to parents and school staff.
