Job Title: Backend Platform Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Location: New York City (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Full-Time

 

The Role:

We’re looking for a Mid-Level Backend Platform Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team. This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact on a high-performing platform that serves as the backbone of Republic’s financial services and Web3 integrations.

 

What You’ll Do:

• Build and scale backend systems in Ruby on Rails (strong expertise required)

• Contribute to the design and development of our REST APIs

• Collaborate closely with product teams to build secure and user-friendly payment infrastructure

• Work across a modern stack with some exposure to JavaScript/TypeScript

• Help scale systems that interface with payments, crypto, and broader FinTech platforms

• Ensure platform reliability, security, and performance at scale

 

What We’re Looking For:

• 1–5 years of backend development experience (new grads with strong portfolios also highly considered)

• Advanced proficiency in Ruby on Rails

• Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript

• Experience working with payment systems and/or in the FinTech industry

• Comfort working with and designing RESTful APIs

• Interest in or exposure to crypto technologies

• A product-minded engineer who cares deeply about end users and usability

 

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with microservices or service-oriented architecture

• Previous work on developer platforms or internal tools

• Startup or high-growth environment experience

Compensation: 

$80,000 - $140,000 based on experience and qualifications.
