Compensation:            Starting at $25/hour

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides emergency medical care in accordance with SCIA policies and all applicable New York State and CNY EMS regional protocols unless authorized to do otherwise for an individual patient by a medical control physician. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs various medical procedures under the direction of the agency’s medical director and medical control physician.
• Provides verbal reports regarding patient assessment and care to the emergency department staff and other medical providers. 
• Documents written (digital) report of patient assessment and care according to established standards using the pre-hospital care report (PCR).
• Effectively and appropriately uses emergency equipment. 
• Practices proper infection control technique. 
• Assists in lifting, carrying and transporting patients
• Maintains New York State certification and meets all skills practice and CME requirements of NYS DOH and CNY EMS.
• Ensures ambulance readiness after responding to emergency call, including cleaning, restocking, and ensuring ambulance is operational
• Performs general station duties such as cleaning, restocking and general upkeep.
• Performs other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Current EMT-P certification
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification
• Completion of FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 and hazardous materials awareness
• Current immunization record (PPD, hepatitis B, influenza or declinations as appropriate) and physical
