Associate / Family Pastor

We are looking to build our team with a Family Ministry Pastor. The hope is that this person will do more than fill a role, but will become part of our family and community. Depending on availability and qualifications, this position could be either part-time or full-time. A full-time role will be more encompassing and include more leadership opportunities.

This position will primarily focus on equipping and serving families with a focus on developing ministry for preschool through high school age children. We currently have about 50 kids under the age of 18. 

Responsibilities for Students

We have a growing number of middle and high school students. Our youth join with a church nearby for a combined youth service on Wednesday evenings. The Family Pastor would NOT need to create our own separate youth service until a later time as needed. However, they would assist in the planning and leading of the youth gatherings. 

  1. Develop youth ministry goals and strategies.
  2. Plan, implement, and attend youth summer camps, retreats, and/or other church sanctioned youth events.
  3. Encourage youth participation on Sundays and equip them for serving, leadership, and spiritual growth.
  4. Invest in the lives of students outside of church events. 

Responsibilities for Kids

  1. Lead and coordinate Sunday morning children’s programming, ensuring it is engaging, safe, and biblically sound, while reflecting the diversity of the church community.
  2. Organize events such as family nights or seasonal activities that foster community and outreach.
  3. Ensure volunteers are trained and background-checked to maintain a safe environment for children.

General Responsibilities

  1. Meet bi-weekly with the Pastor for planning and problem solving. This will include personal and ministry growth plans.
  2. Collaborate with the Pastor and church leadership to align family ministries with the overall vision of the church and its commitment to economic and racial diversity.
  3. Develop and manage the family ministry budget, ensuring resources are used effectively and equitably.
  4. Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, and the congregation about family ministry opportunities and updates.

Additional Expectations for full-time

  1. Help plan and coordinate Sunday worship services.
  2. Be part of the preaching and teaching team if so gifted.
  3. Oversee ministry team leaders.
  4. Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of church events and activities.
  5. Help develop and implement church policies and procedures.
  6. Assist with budget planning and management for assigned ministries.
  7. Assist with pastoral care.

Commitment

We’re looking for a two-year commitment minimum.

Hours: part-time or full-time depending on availability, experience, and fit

Compensation: $25-$30/hour or $50,000-$60,000 commensurate with experience

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates a genuine faith and desire to follow Jesus.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build and lead volunteer teams.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
  • Theological training, either in a local church or institutional setting
  • Ability to engage people from different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Tech and media skills are not required but would be a bonus!
