The Texas General Land Office is seeking a Clerk II (Summer Intern) within the Human Resources Department of the agency.
Performs complex (journey-level) clerical work. Performs a broad range of clerical work in support of one or a variety of business functions, which may include opening and sorting mail, compiling and tabulating data, answering phones, checking documents for accuracy, transporting documents, and maintaining files. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment

What Your Contributions to the GLO Will be:
· Assist with filing, copying, scanning, and transferring documents to HR SharePoint, along with performing other clerical tasks as needed. Help maintain and organize employee records, both digital and physical.
· Assist HRBPs and the Onboarding Coordinator with Talent Acquisition efforts, encompassing but not limited to recruiting, onboarding, candidate sourcing, employee integration, and ensuring a seamless transition from hiring to full employee engagement.
· Observe or assist with payroll processing and learn about tax regulations. Collaborate with the classification team to gain a thorough understanding of classification processes, the State Auditor's Office, and assist with developing and refining position descriptions.
· Performs some of the essential duties of Human Resources various area's and assist with other projects as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
· Must be 18 years old
· Be a US Citizen or be eligible to work in the US
· Currently enrolled as a student and have at least 30 semester credit hours or more in an accredited college or university (transcripts required)
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in clerical work; Experience, training, and/or education in Human Resources.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.
