Parole and Probation Case Monitor
Benton County Community Corrections has openings for the position of Parole and Probation Case Monitor (Student Intern).
This position is a temporary part-time position expected to work between 10-20 hours per week primarily during the evening hours.

Job Summary
This position works under the general supervision of a Parole and Probation Sergeant and Deputy and assists Community Corrections staff in the supervision of adult corrections clients who reside at the Transition Center and other Transitional Housing in order to protect the community and assist in the rehabilitation process. Performs other work and duties within the Community Corrections Division as required and assigned.
- Assists Parole and Probation staff in the daily operation of the Transition Center and other Transitional Housing.
- Conducts one-on-one interviews with clients; conducts room checks; collects reports and evaluates data to determine client compliance and risk; enters chronological records.
- Prepares written reports and maintains records necessary to the effective operation for the Transition Center, Transitional Housing, and Parole and Probation Office.
- Collects urinalysis tests.
- Assists the public and answers varied inquires which require a knowledge of department functions, regulations and procedures, processes routine matters independently.
- Uses a computer database to enter, edit and retrieve information.
- May assist Parole and Probation staff with caseload management, or other tasks that may be asked of them.
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
- Must 18 years of age or older.
- Must be currently enrolled in a university or community college working toward a degree in Corrections, Behavioral or Social Science, or a related field.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year or more of school remaining.
- Valid State of Oregon driver's license with a good driving record.
- Hiring is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background and reference check.
Ideal Candidate:
- Some knowledge of behavior and adjustment problems in adult clients and the ability to assist in dealing with these problems; some knowledge of criminal law and the criminal justice system.
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing word processing software, some knowledge of standard office practices and procedures in a professional setting.
- Ability to interact with adult clients; ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, clients, courts, other agencies, and the general public.
- Represent the Sheriff’s Office in a professional manner.
