R&D Engineering and Marketing Intern

R&D Engineering/Marketing Intern: Minerva Surgical, Inc.

 

Location: On-site – Santa Clara, CA

 

Duration: 8-12 weeks, Full-Time

 

Start Date: By June 1st

About the Role:

As an R&D Engineering and Marketing Intern, you will gain practical experience in medical device design, development, testing, and support. Your tasks will be split approximately 50/50 between R&D and Marketing and you will report to both functions.  In addition to working closely with the research & development and marketing teams, you will also interface with the regulatory, quality, and operations teams to contribute to the market research, product design, prototyping, testing, and support of next-generation medical devices. This internship is an excellent opportunity to apply your engineering knowledge in a regulated industry while working on meaningful projects that improve the quality of life for women.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design or source transportation cases for capital equipment.
  • Design or source transportation solutions for disposable marketing demonstration product.
  • Develop display solutions to allow for both static and functional product demonstrations to be used by the sales team and at tradeshows.
  • Assist in the design and development of medical devices, components, and systems.
  • Support prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing of new product designs.
  • Conduct data analysis and assist in product verification, validation, and failure analysis.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, or bench testing on devices to ensure performance and safety.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other technical documentation to communicate designs and findings.
  • Assist in documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct research and competitive analysis to support product development decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory Affairs.

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for design and prototyping.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, or biomedical systems related to medical devices.
  • Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for innovation and healthcare technology.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, Minitab).
  • Familiarity with FDA, ISO 13485, and medical device regulations.
  • Experience with 3D printing, rapid prototyping, or lab testing.
