Middle School Mentoring AmeriCorps Member
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Middle School mentoring members create a safe environment, develop positive relationships, and recognize students for their efforts. Members encourage students to become more engaged in school by providing evidence-based emotional support for those who exhibit one or more of the "early warning" indicators; low attendance, poor behavior, and below average course performance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements the day-to-day delivery of the AmeriCorps program following all requirements.
- Ensures the confidentiality of the students, school employees, and AmeriCorps members.
- Maintain positive communication with school administration and staff.
- Supporting middle school students in grades 6-8 to improve academic engagement, developing positive relationships, and recognizing students for their efforts by providing one on one mentoring sessions.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- May participate in special programs and/or events.
- Participate in service projects throughout the service year.
- Complete trainings as required.
