Elementary Literacy AmeriCorps Member

PRIMARY FUNCTION 

Elementary Literacy AmeriCorps Members will deliver one on-one and small group lessons centered around English language arts and literacy. Members will work with teachers to monitor literacy gains, coordinate literacy sessions during the school day, assign literacy enrichment activities, and provide parents with feedback on their child’s progress in the program. Members will work with three groups of 3-4 students per 18 weeks; approximately 21 students during the school year.  

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Implements the day-to-day delivery of the AmeriCorps program following all requirements. 
  • Ensures the confidentiality of the students, school employees, and AmeriCorps members. 
  • Maintain positive communication with school administration and staff. 
  • Improving English Language Arts skills among K-2nd grades by delivering one on-one and small group lessons.  

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES  

  1. May participate in special programs and/or events. 
  2. Participate in service projects throughout the service year. 
  3. Complete trainings as required.
