Career Center Writing and Communications Intern

The Career Center is seeking a dynamic and passionate writing and communications intern for the 2025-2026 academic year. The intern will work alongside the Career Center Marketing Committee to support the marketing and communication needs of the Career Center.

Duties

Writing:

  • Write, edit, and proofread copy for departmental communications including printed materials, webpages, podcast episodes, and email campaigns.
  • Serve as the main author of the Career Center Monthly newsletter and the Employer Edge newsletter, delegating assignments as needed to colleagues.
  • Act as the lead editor for career community newsletters.
  • Write submissions for external newsletters (e.g. Laker Family Network).

Marketing and Design:

  • Collaborate with fellow interns to brainstorm marketing ideas for the Career Center.
  • Collaborate with career advisors to create and/or edit longer-form Career Center pieces such as instructional worksheets, guides, etc.
  • Perform website edits and updates.

Social Media:

  • Assist with social media efforts, working on projects such as student/intern spotlights and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion posts.
  • Brainstorm ideas and perform in videos for social media.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Prior writing experience outside of the classroom.
  • Experience using Canva.
  • Comfortable being on camera.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Must be willing to work independently and report to supervisor on a regular basis regarding work progression.
  • Must have a positive, cooperative attitude and respond to constructive feedback in a mature fashion. 

Additional Details

  • Paid internship, $16.33 an hour
  • 10-15 hours per week
  • Must commit to full academic year internship (August 19, 2025-May 1, 2026)
  • Work will primarily be done at the downtown Pew Campus
