POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT  - Seasonal Intern

POSITION  TITLE:   District Seasonal Intern

Application Deadline:  4:00 pm., April 13, 2025

Position Classification:  Seasonal, Full Time – 520 hours total 

Position Location:  Aitkin Minnesota, Government Center

Starting Wage:  $ 20 per hour

INTRODUCTION   The Aitkin County SWCD is looking for a seasonal intern to join our team! If you have a passion for natural resources, and want to help conserve Minnesota’s water and soil resources, please apply for our District Seasonal Intern position.  We are excited to help you learn about working in the natural resource field!

THE POSITION: This position will assist District Staff during our busy summer field season.

A variety of duties will comprise the position, as we look to expose the intern to the many 

programs and projects that are undertaken by the SWCD. Hours of work vary, with occasional

evenings and weekends.

Variety in duties and responsibilities should be expected. Typical duties may include:

• Work with the Groundwater Protection Initiative Grant
• Promote Well Sealing Cost Share Programs
• Education and Outreach Activities including the Aitkin County Rivers and Lakes Fair, Aitkin County Fair, and Workshops 
• Assist with Drone Inventories of Shorelines
  • Assist with water sampling activities
  • Assist with the SWCD Shoreland Restoration programs
  • Communicate program activities with the Aitkin County SWCD Board
  • Additional duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – Applicants should be interested in pursuing a career in Conservation and Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Soil Science, Soil and Water Conservation Technology or a closely related field.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to work in an outdoors setting.
