Radiation Therapist - $20K BONUS

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Radiation Therapist performs radiotherapy procedures as prescribed by a physician according to established standards and practices.  Provides patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, registration, and/or assessed competencies. Practice will be in accordance with laws and regulations and will adhere to established policies, procedures and practice guidelines. 

 

Job Qualifications

Education:  A minimum of associate’s degree in radiography with a certification in radiation therapy is required. Bachelor’s degree in radiation therapy is preferred.  Graduate of a JRCERT approved school registered through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy.          

 Licensures/Certifications: State of Ohio licensed radiation therapist; ARRT license; CPR certified. 

Experience:  A minimum of 1-2 years of radiation therapy experience is preferred. 

Essential Job Functions

  1. Job Expectations and Responsibilities:
  2. Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy, using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards.
  3. Obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedures; observes patient for any unusual reactions or events during treatment. 
  4. Follows established departmental and hospital policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental and/or infection control standards. 
  5. Schedules patients for treatments; interfaces with physicist at initiation of treatment; consults with supportive care physicians, nurses and social workers. 
  6. Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient identification, ensuring accurate treatments. 
  7. Prepares electronic and/or written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports and other such reports. 
  8. Prepares room and equipment for patient; transfers immobilized patient from stretcher to treatment couch, giving special care to catheters, IV’s, oxygen, respirator, chest tubes, and other life support; positions patient in prescribed anatomical positions for treatment.
  9. Reinforces recommendations given to patient by the physician, dietician, or other care provider, concerning reactions to treatment and care of the irradiated area, and prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects. 
  10. Performs verification and port film exposures for all treated areas and makes corrections or changes to therapy as directed by physician. 
  11. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educations programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops. 
  12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
