This non-permanent position will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.
Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in 12 months.
Must obtain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
ABOUT THIS JOB
Position Specific Summary
The Sports Recreation Worker at the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for planning and leading a variety of recreational activities and programs.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Sports Recreation Coordinator. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains constant and appropriate communication with participant’s parents or guardians, school personnel, and all recreation staff.
- Monitors and records event statistics, track times, and responds to participant and audience inquiries during events
- Prepares, cleans, and maintains designated areas to support recreational activities and ensure a safe and organized environment.
- Ensures the safety of participants and communicates public questions or concerns to full-time staff promptly.
- Travels to various program locations as required, ensuring reliable transportation to meet scheduling and logistical needs. Operates city vehicles as required to support program activities and transportation needs.
- Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions
The hours for this position are 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 8 weeks.
Track and Field events are held every Tuesday night in June and July.
Road Races are held every Thursday night in June and July.
Special Events as needed in June and July.

Education: Some high school
