KZValve, a business unit of the IDEX Corporation, is an engineering design and valve actuation company focused on Agriculture, Fire, De-icing, Turf, and Industrial industries. We specialize in low voltage actuated valves (that are waterproof and extremely durable) ranging in size from 1/4 inch to 6 inches. Our facility and staff design, engineer, assemble, and sell our finished goods. KZ Valve’s sales channel is primarily direct to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and through a network of Authorized Stocking Distributors.
The Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer Internship will allow you to gain hands-on experience working on meaningful projects, network with engineers across the organization, and learn what it is like to be an engineer at KZValve while making a lasting impact and developing lifelong skills to elevate your future career.
This position focuses on optimizing the interconnected components of a manufacturing system (e.g., personnel workflow/ergonomics, materials coordination, production process sequence, equipment layouts, etc.). The Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer Internship applies broad theoretical knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and must be able to explain facts, policies and practices related to the job area.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Conduct process time studies to increase routing and reported productivity metric accuracy
- Conduct audits of production lines and create/update technical instructions, documents, and drawings to ensure consistent and repeatable processes
- Evaluate opportunities for increased process efficiency, create proposals, implement, and validate improvements
- Participate in Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs)
- Assist manufacturing engineers with equipment maintenance
- Assist with creating solutions for challenges and problems impacting various production lines
Requirements:
- Actively enrolled in an accredited university the semester prior to your start date
- To be pursuing a degree in applicable engineering discipline or another related field
- Junior-Senior level standing, minimum 3.0 GPA
- Available to work 40 hours weekly for a minimum of 3 months*
Preferred:
- Experience with design of and conducting experiments, data collection, and statistical analysis

- Solid communication skills, written and verbal.

Position Details:
- Full-Time, non-exempt position (May-August)
- Preferred core hours to be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Workweek is Monday through Friday
- Position reports to the Production Manager
- Position not eligible for remote work
