LAMP Missionary

For young people who want their faith to be their job.

LAMP Catholic Ministries is a lay missionary association. Participants show God's love for the poor by serving full-time in NYC in materially poor parishes, shelters for homeless families, pregnancy crisis outreach, street evangelization, and other outreaches among the materially poor, for one full year or longer, renewable. The service, while holistic, has evangelization as its primary focus. 

 

Type of Placement:

Street Evangelization/outreach, youth ministry, adult education, poverty relief services, elderly outreach, hospital/nursing homes, parish/pastoral ministries, Hispanic ministry, pregnancy crisis ministry, outreach to homeless families, prison ministry.

 

Service Area:

Metropolitan New York area: Archdiocese of New York, Diocese of Brooklyn.

 

Service Length:

One year to begin, can be renewed indefinitely.

 

Start Date:

No official start date. Rolling basis.

 

Program Size

8 to 20 missionaries

 

Requirements

Men and women. Single. Ages 22 years to 40 if living with other missionaries. Catholic. Some college education. Some experience in ministry.

 

Financial Arrangements

Room and board, stipend, medical insurance, transportation to and from city sites of service, living accommodations in community.

 

Living Arrangements:

Community living, or for local members, at home. Blessed Sacrament reserved in chapel in men's and women's residences.
