Support Service Worker II - Bilingual
The Mobile Crisis Continuum has one (1) full-time, regular fixed term position, funded through June 30, 2025, with the Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT). MCRT is a field/community-based service providing rapid response to individuals presenting with behavioral health or substance use-related crisis across Marin County. MCRT serves all ages and, as of January 1, 2024, is a Medi-Cal billable service. This role is designed as a Dispatcher and is an integral part of the Mobile Crisis Response Team. The Dispatch position acts as the entry point for all MCRT crisis response requests. Dispatched provide live phone response and are responsible for gathering all initiate service request information for the Team.
The Support Service Worker II, bilingual position within Behavioral Health and Recovery Services has a variety of duties including but not limited to:
- This role acts as an initial triage point for MCRT crisis services and will be responsible for initial safety assessments and linkage to MCRT field team members.
- Providing excellent behavioral health services that honors that diverse background of clients served.
- This role will include a significant amount of administrative duties which require excellent documentation skills that comply with Medi-Cal and BHRS standards and timelines.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary team to assist with targeted interventions.
- Timely documentation per BHRS and MCRT-specific procedures
- Coordinating with community partners regarding accessing services.
- Receiving phone calls regarding acute mental health crisis situations
- Coordinating appropriate responses based on the acuity of the presenting crisis
- Providing appropriate referrals and services to callers
- Communicating expected response times and coordinating between callers and the Mobile Crisis field response teams
- Other duties as assigned
The position is fixed term, is initially funded up to June 30, 2025. However, there may be opportunities for the hired individual during this time-period to move to a regular, ongoing position as other vacancies or promotional opportunities occur, or the position may be funded and convert to an ongoing position. Fixed-term employment ends when the position’s funding finishes, or the work is completed. Employees in these positions are exempt from the County’s policies regarding lay-off order and reduction-in-force rights.
Bilingual Testing/Certification: The successful candidate must possess bilingual skills and must demonstrate proficiency in both Spanish and English prior to appointment. A bilingual proficiency exam will be administered to ensure the candidates possess the appropriate skill level to meet the requirements.
Our Highly Qualified Candidate:
The ideal candidate has experience completing administrative and support tasks using Windows and Microsoft Office programs in a mental health, primary health care, detention, public health or social services settings and has familiarity with the complex needs clients may face. They successfully utilize computer software programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and can learn department specific computer programs with ease. They can identify and triage urgent client needs by telephone. The candidate has experience processing forms, document recording, intake applications and other types of administrative paperwork. The successful candidate is detail-oriented and performs important technical and complicated tasks with a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
The ideal candidate also has a proven track record of providing excellent customer service and developing and maintaining professional, supportive, respectful and collaborative working relationships. They possess excellent interpersonal skills and have experience interfacing with staff at all levels, as well as members of the public. Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks effectively and maintain adherence to multiple deadlines is essential. The ideal candidate can express ideas clearly, concisely and accurately when writing correspondence. The candidate also has experience successfully working independently and as part of a team.
