Group Programs Internship

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, which operates a mission-based, family and group conference and retreat center, serving more than 225,000 annually. The Group Programs Intern is responsible for assisting with the coordination of private group programming through guest outreach and activity scheduling. Interns will facilitate a variety of programs for groups, members, families, and staff as needed. These programs include wall climbing, archery, guided hiking, teambuilding, crafting and other outdoor nature activities. Interns are expected to assist with training and be a resource for other staff in regards to program development and implementation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Use computer system to assist guests and groups in registration, cancellations and modifications of program bookings
  • Communicate with all guests in a mature, timely and responsible fashion in person and via phone and email
  • Assist the with scheduling and facilitating group programs
  • Work with the Conference team and Group Sales team for financial accuracy and communication with groups. 
  • Work with the Programs team to schedule and tailor programs to different groups.
  • Remain flexible and positive in a loud, fast pace work environment. 
  • Promote and assist in special events, festival weekends and seasonal programming
  • Assist in other programs areas (craft shop, mountain center, etc.) as needed
  • Predict, prevent, identify and respond to safety issues
  • Make change and balance cash boxes
  • Participate in daily cleaning of program buildings as assigned
  • All other duties as assigned, including assisting in other departments

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be fluent in speaking English
  • Must possess current Adult and Pediatric First Aid and CPR/AED certifications

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Be able to bend, stoop, kneel, walk, hike on uneven terrain for 2 miles. 
  • Ability to climb stairs, frequently get up and down from desk, move throughout lodges and meeting facilities.
  • The employee needs sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
  • The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
