Job Title: District Conservation Technician
Introduction: This full-time position is responsible for performing duties and services provided by the North Central Soil Conservation District (SCD).
Ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in natural resources, agriculture, farming operations, forestry, and conservation. A college education is any of these fields is a plus, but not required.
- Experience with operating equipment.
- Computer experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, ArcGIS, and the ability to learn computer programs necessary to perform the job outlined.
- Become familiar with NRCS field office technical guide for conservation practices specifications.
- Must have good verbal and written skills.
- Good organizational skills and able to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Physical ability to work in rough terrain and lift 75 pounds.
- United States citizen, or alien authorized to work in the United States.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the district board.

Duties & Responsibilities:
GENERAL
- Knowledgeable of conservation relationship with natural resource agencies operating within the district.
- Assist NRCS personnel assigned to the District.
- Seek training through SCD and NRCS to learn how to prepare tree and grass plans and conservation work in compliance with USDA Tech Guide for any program related plantings and paperwork.
- Perform general maintenance on all equipment and general upkeep at the tree shed and district’s lots.
- All duties and actions of this position while on official duty will be performed in a safe and healthful manner and will be of a nature to reflect favorably on the North Central SCD.

OUTREACH
- Assist with preparing and publishing quarterly newsletter.
- Assist in the organization of field tours, workshops, educational activities (Eco Ed Day, school presentations), and achievement program.
- Assist with planning, installation, and maintenance of Demo Farm.
- Prepare news releases of district activities for North Central SCD Facebook page.
Supervision: This position is under day-to-day supervision by the District Board of Supervisors. Policy and program direction is received from the District Board of Supervisors.
