
Assistant Coordinator (Paid Volunteer)
Position Description: This is a year-long position, working with the FaithX/BVS team.
FaithX provides short-term service opportunities for youth and adults in the Church of the Brethren and Brethren Volunteer Service offers long-term service opportunities for individuals over the age of 18. As a volunteer in the FaithX/BVS office, you will contribute to both programs by coordinating FaithX service trips and assisting with BVS orientation and events. Volunteers will work closely with BVS staff, and will have the opportunity to develop the FaithX curriculum and program, travel for FaithX trips and BVS orientation, and engage with past, future, and current BVS volunteers.
Compensation: The Assistant Coordinator will receive a stipend of $250 a month, an additional food allowance, and transportation from orientation and at the end of your service. Health insurance can be provided if needed. Housing will also be provided at either the volunteer house in Elgin, IL or at the volunteer house in Washington, DC.
Timeframe: This position is a year-long volunteer position with Brethren Volunteer Service.
Your start date would be the day after your BVS orientation of choice. You can decide if you'd like to join the summer or fall BVS orientation.
Summer Orientation: July 25-August 4, 2025 at Camp Colorado in Sedalia, CO
Fall Orientation: September 8-18, 2025 at Camp Mardela in Denton, MD
Requirements: Must be 21+. Able to drive a 15 passenger van. Able lead groups in interactive service projects that may be physically demanding. This is a Christian based organization, where talking about faith and leading devotions would be required.
