Research Assistant- Sepsis Research Lab 

Position Summary

A position (at the Research Assistant level) is available in the Sepsis Research Lab, Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, Northwell Health, Manhasset, NY.  The laboratory, under the leadership of the Vice Chair for Research & Professor of Pediatrics and Molecular Medicine, studies the pathobiology of sepsis using molecular approaches to examine animal models and human immune cells. 

We are looking for a productive, highly motivated, and organized research assistant to work in these different areas. The ideal candidate is expected to think creatively and flourish in an integrated and dynamic team within the laboratory. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting experiments under the supervision of senior lab members and the Principal Investigator
  • Managing rodent colonies and processing murine tissues. Expertise in small animal handling is required.
  • Performing cell culture, ELISA assays, histology and other molecular bench work.  Familiarity with flow cytometry is preferred but not required.
  • Preparation and processing of patient-derived samples. 
  • Managing laboratory resources, ordering reagents and other lab supplies as needed.
  • Summarizing experimental data in a timely manner and participating to lab meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Biology and at least 2 years of related experience in a research laboratory. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree (M.S.) in Biology or other relevant fields. 
  • A commitment of at least two years.
