JOB TITLE: Athletic Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Recreation
REPORTS TO: Director
SALARY: $37,500 to $40,000 depending on experience.
BENEFITS: Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance, Persi Retirement, Vacation Package.
CLOSING DATE: Open until filled.
TYPE OF JOB: 40+ hours per week with some evenings, weekends and holidays required.
SUMMARY
The primary function of an employee in this class is to plan, coordinate and oversee all sport leagues, camps, clinics, and tournaments. This position requires supervising volunteer coaches, referees, and other personnel associated with athletics. The nature of the work requires that an employee in this class establish effective working relationships with the Director, Coworkers, County Affiliations and the community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, organize and supervise indoor and outdoor athletic events and team sports for all age groups.
- Conflict resolution - Resolves problems between coaches, players, officials and parents.
- Ensure proper use of equipment and facilities; prepare league schedules.
- Recruit, train, and assign coaches, referees, and other volunteers as needed.
- Inventories all equipment and ensures proper maintenance and storage.
- Checks In/Out equipment to coaches.
- Evaluates and adapts sport seasons and events as needed.
- Communicate with coaches, volunteers, and employees.
- Keeps records and prepares reports of leagues and other activities.
- Submits a monthly report to the Director prior to the Board of Director meeting.
- Ensures field/court set up and tear down for all sport seasons and athletic events.
- Submit all merchandise requests to the Director for approval.
- Data entry and management of all athletic teams in the Sportsman database.
- Provide information for all activities with the Marketing Assistant for the creation of marketing and recruitment materials.
- Develop an annual calendar with the Director.
- Work with Office Coordinator to set up activities in Sportsman database.
- Works with the Director to solidify agreements with County Affiliations as needed to execute activities and placement of all sports activities.
- Collaborate with the next level youth sport programs in the community to ensure a fluid transition for our players to the next level of play.
- Communicate with the Office Coordinator by email regarding sport program refunds and passes as needed.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Assist with front office coverage as needed.
- Operates office machines including copiers, scanners, phone and voicemail systems, personal computers, and other standard office equipment. Other related duties as assigned by the Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Experience coaching, refereeing, and/or coordinating sport programs.
- Bachelors in Recreation programming or Two (2) years related work experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace applications.
- Excellent leadership, motivation, team building, conflict resolution and interaction management skills in all areas.
- Maintain a positive attitude and mindset in all work assignments.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Excellent verbal communication skills for all ages and abilities for regular communications, negotiations, presentations and course instruction with cliental.
- Possess a valid CPR and Stop the Bleed Certification. (Or obtain one within 3 months of hire date)
- Must be at least 20 years of age.
- Ability to manage and work within a yearly budget is preferred.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a valid Idaho driver’s license.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, and crawl during the course of your workday.
- Ability to work outside in hot and cold weather.
- Must pass a background check.
