Natural Resources Technician - MacDill Air Force Base (180 working days)
The Natural Resources Technician will assist with various aspects of the MacDill Air Force Base Environmental Program with a focus on population assessments, population monitoring, and invasive plant management. Potential tasks below:
- Population Monitoring of DoD Mission Sensitive-Species (banding, nest monitoring)
- Manatee and Sea Turtle Surveys with Unmanned Aerial Systems (twice per month/year round)
- Eastern black rail call-playback and ARU surveys (April-July 2025)
- Southeastern beach mouse population assessments using game cameras and/or track tubes
- Bat acoustic monitoring and sonogram analysis
- Migratory bird point count surveys (Spring and Fall)
- Long term monitoring to measure success of Nature-Based Solutions projects for installation resilience (year round as needed)
- Gopher tortoise surveys prior to construction projects and PFAS/PFOA groundwater sampling (year round as needed)
- Invasive Vegetation Treatment Quality Control (year round as needed)
- Post-burn monitoring and assessments
- Assist with coordinating outreach events, supplies, and volunteers (year round as needed)
