Wildfire Training Coordinator

Fire Training Coordinator, Wildland Fire Program Coordinator 1

Salary: $5241.00 - $7043.00 Monthly

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate, and participate in cadres and committees to facilitate specialized and advanced training (i.e. NWCG 300-400 level courses), workshops, and orientations on an interagency level.
  • Develop a specialized fire training curriculum for the agency, including fire program events to promote fire program recruitment and development.
  • Serves as an SME and provides support for virtual instructor-led training (VILT) delivery of fire training and courses.
  • Serves as DNR's Work Capacity Test program coordinator, overseeing the overall coordination and administration within DNR. Provides WCT for DNR Division personnel who work at the DNR Olympia Headquarters.
  • Maintains and updates the DNR WCT Administrator’s Guide.
  • Coordination of interagency training courses and venues hosted by DNR Headquarters. This work includes conducting training as needed, being a lead instructor and/or developing an instructor cadre, and overseeing all related course communication, logistics, and records management. Responsible for coordination and delivery of RT-130, Wildland Safety Training Annual Refresher.
  • Oversees the annual facilitation of M-410, Facilitative Instructor course. Recruits’ cadre keeps course materials up to date with regional and national standards.
  • Provides NWCG course coordination and training expertise to other DNR Divisions and sections to allow these programs to operate with the necessary skills and qualifications to perform their primary positions, in such programs as Fire Investigator, Air Quality, and Intelligence and Predictive Services.
  • Administer, certify, and manage training and experience records for the WA National Guard, WA Conservation Corps, and other personnel as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications: 
 

  • Two years of experience working in a Wildland Fire or Emergency Management program.
  • Experience developing training materials and delivering training courses.
  • Experience utilizing writing and presentation skills to convey information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience using MS Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, etc.), Adobe and
    Smartsheet.
  • Experience incorporating organizational skills to prioritize competing deadlines and tasks.
  • Experience developing and maintaining professional working relationships while representing the agency with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wildfire operations, ICS, NWCG fire training doctrine/qualification guides, National Wildland Fire Portal (LMS), and required training.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, be detail-orientated, take initiative, and function in a highly productive unit with little supervision in a team setting.
  • Interpersonal, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
