About the Organization:
Ann Arbor Public Schools serves the city of Ann Arbor, Michigan and parts of eight surrounding townships covering 125 square miles. This role will play a critical part in advancing the district’s environmental sustainability efforts by identifying and recommending innovative financial strategies to reduce carbon impacts and promote energy efficiency
Position Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Research Analyst to support the development of sustainable financing strategies for environmental initiatives. The ideal candidate will assess current greenhouse gas impacts, operating costs, and financing options, while collaborating with key stakeholders to identify and present innovative solutions for implementing a Green Revolving Fund.
AmeriCorps VISTA members receive a stipend of $957 bi-weekly stipend and an education award of $7,395 or a cash stipend of $1,800 upon completion of service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct a comprehensive review of the existing greenhouse gas inventory and available data to assess the district’s carbon footprint.
• Research existing examples of Green Revolving Funds implemented by other school districts and institutions of higher education.
• Establish communication and follow up with key contacts at school districts and universities to gather insights and best practices.
• Present findings and recommendations to the Environmental Sustainability Advisory Group.
• Evaluate current federal and state government-sponsored incentives related to sustainability projects.
• Analyze utility programs and localized incentives that may support green initiatives.
Qualifications:
• Strong research and analytical skills with experience in data evaluation.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices, carbon accounting, or energy efficiency is preferred.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to share findings with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with external organizations and institutions.
