Correctional Industries Supervisor 1 (Woodworking & Metal Enterprise Shops)

The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC), has two anticipated vacancies for Correctional Industries Supervisor 1 (General Industries) positions at MacDougall Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield, CT. These hazardous duty positions are located within the Woodworking & Metal Enterprises shops.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • These are full-time, Monday - Friday 36.25 hours per week position on the first shift.
  • The immediate vacancies are listed above; however, applications to this recruitment may be used for future vacancies in this job class.

YOUR ROLE

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising and instructing inmates in skilled craftwork found in the woodworking and metal fabrication industries, methods and techniques of manufacturing process/service, proper use of tools/materials, necessary safety rules/procedures/maintenance and cleaning/repairing of equipment.
  • Assigns work to inmates.
  • Generates and maintains cost reports, production inventory data, and time records.
  • Maintains discipline and enforces security measures within assigned areas.
  • Conducts performance reviews of inmates.
  • Related duties as required (see Examples of Duties section).
