About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist to join our team. This independent professional position plays a critical role in ensuring that Aging Network Providers are paid on time, supporting the independence and well-being of Florida’s elders.

What You’ll Do:
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Auditing vendor invoices and processing payments promptly.
  • Inputting financial transactions in the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) system and MyFlorida Marketplace (MFMP).
  • Reconciling departmental revolving fund balances monthly.
  • Researching, coding, and managing departmental deposits.
  • Preparing financial reports and maintaining accurate, organized accounting files.
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and provide information.
  • Assisting in preparing requests for duplicate or canceled warrants and making related FLAIR entries.
  • Supporting disaster recovery efforts and completing additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Needed:

  • Proficiency in FLAIR transactions, Department of Financial Services voucher auditing rules, and state expenditure guidelines.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, with the ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Florida Statute 215.422 and relevant financial guidelines.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience may be substituted.

Special Notes:
Preference will be given to current Department of Elder Affairs employees.

Background Checks:
A Level 2 Criminal History Background Check is required for all candidates selected for this position.
