Location: Amplify Sleep Away Camp at Besant Hill School, Ojai, CA
Dates: June 22 - August 2, 2025 (or any two-week period within this timeframe)
Compensation: Competitive pay, room and board included (for live-in positions)

Job Summary:
The Trips and Travel Instructor plays a critical role in leading and facilitating off-campus excursions and outdoor adventures for campers. This position involves organizing and overseeing trips that enhance campers' learning, personal growth, and connection to the world around them. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, and experienced in leading group activities in outdoor or travel settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and execute day trips and camping trips and excursions for campers, ensuring all activities align with Amplify’s mission and values.
  • Supervise and guide campers during off-campus adventures, ensuring safety and engagement at all times.
  • Coordinate logistics, including transportation, meals, and schedules, in collaboration with camp leadership.
  • Facilitate group activities that encourage teamwork, confidence-building, and exploration.
  • Communicate effectively with campers, staff, and parents about trip details and expectations.
  • Manage trip budgets and maintain accurate records of expenses and attendance.
  • Ensure all trips adhere to safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with other camp staff to integrate trips into the overall camp experience.
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for campers.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience organizing and leading trips or outdoor excursions for youth.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle logistical planning and problem-solving in dynamic environments.
  • Knowledge of safety and emergency protocols for group travel and outdoor activities.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and able to work well in a team setting.
  • Ability to connect with and inspire youth.
  • Must pass a background check and meet all child safety requirements.
  • (Preferred) CPR/First Aid certification.
  • (Preferred) Experience in outdoor education, travel coordination, or camp settings.

Work Environment:

  • This is primarily a live-in position, with room and board provided.
  • Trips and activities may involve hiking, outdoor exploration, or other physically active components.
  • Instructors will work closely with a team of passionate staff dedicated to providing an exceptional camp experience.

Pay: $575.00 - $700.00 per week
