POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION

The Safety Analyst/Senior Safety Analyst (Human Resources) collaborates with City management and departments to ensure the organization’s safety program is in line with the values and strategic objectives of the City. The ideal candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset, knowing that effective and productive loss control efforts are not compliance driven but rather relationship, educational, and guidance driven. The position will be expected to learn each department and division’s operations, resource availability, and operational capability. The position is responsible for carrying out the citywide safety program, including training and development, loss control analysis, coordination and oversight of the city’s SafeStart program and Citywide Safety Committee, plus other safety-related functions.

This is a part-time (20 hours per week) benefited position. In order to be considered for this position, all candidates must attach a cover letter and resume (maximum of two pages for each document) to the online application at the time of submittal. The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.
 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Engineering, Risk Management, business, psychology, public administration, or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in safety or risk management
  • Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and methods, including knowledge and proficiency of computer word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Excellent human relations skills, excellent analytical skills, good conflict management skills, a strong participative management orientation, and a strong detail and results oriented style

Preferred:

  • Related experience in a public organization or municipal government
  • Related certifications in safety or risk management
