SQL Database Associate

SUMMARY: The MS SQL Server Database Associate position is a full-time position from May to April for recent graduates of a bachelor’s degree in an area related to the management information systems, computer science, information systems, or related bootcamps. Associate Database Engineers will assist in the implementation and maintenance of database technologies and their related servers, including backups, monitoring, performance and tuning, production deployments and capacity planning.
This is a temporary full-time position that will begin on June 2nd, 2025 and conclude on May 22, 2026, unless otherwise determined.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Install, configure, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Perform database maintenance tasks, such as backups, recoveries, disk space monitoring and index/performance tuning.
- Monitor and maintain daily SQL jobs to ensure successful daily execution.
- Assist with daily data integration and data cleansing processes.
- Help identify areas where improvements to existing architecture or processes could be beneficial and assist with the development and implementation of those improvements.
- Assist in software development projects as experience and knowledge permits.
- Assist with troubleshooting issues with SQL Jobs, Integrations, Query Performance and SQL Errors within code for internally developed applications.
- Test stored procedures and applications as needed.
- Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server and its management tools.
- Demonstrate proficiency in writing SQL queries, with basic understanding of SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE and different types of JOIN operations
- Basic knowledge of database management principles.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot common database issues.
- Experience with digital preservation.
- Basic scripting skills with knowledge of scheduled tasks and scripting for routine maintenance.
- Strong research skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and ask questions.
- Ability to maintain focus while working on several projects at once.
- Strong verbal, written, organizational, time management and interpersonal communication skills.
- Consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and extended hours as needed.
