Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Senior Contracts Account Technician. Under direction, this position will independently perform technical accounting for payable purchase of service Intact Family Services contracts and will prepare, enter, and maintain all assigned contract appropriation and budget amounts. The position will verify and maintain accounting records and make payments in a timely manner. The position will also independently review, analyze, evaluate, reconcile, and process assigned vouchers. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who has an affinity for numbers and a keen eye for ensuring accuracy and eliminating discrepancies. Essential Functions
- Serves as Contracts Account Technician in the Cook County Day Business Office
- Makes payments in a timely manner, following Department policy and the Prompt Payment Act to ensure that service providers, vendors, and staff receive payment as soon as possible
- Independently reviews, analyzes, evaluates, reconciles, and processes assigned IFS statewide CFS1042 vouchers
- Serves as liaison for purchase of service providers and staff regarding payment policy and requirements for processing or resolving Intact Family Service payments
- Prepares and provides written and/or oral responses concerning payments or any other areas to assist in managing administrative services within the Intact Family Services Program
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and one year of technical accounting experience OR four years of related clerical bookkeeping experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in an office setting applying extensive knowledge of accounting techniques
- 3 years of experience in an office setting applying working knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures
- 3 years of experience in an office setting utilizing extensive knowledge of office methods and procedures
