The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Surface Water (DSW) at our Northwest District Office in Bowling Green, Ohio.

As environmental specialist, you’ll work to ensure regional waste treatment and disposal facilities are operating in compliance with agency permits and following state and federal regulations.

In the field, you’ll inspect existing municipal, industrial, and semi-public wastewater treatment facilities to assure compliance and prepare enforcement actions as necessary to address non-compliance issues. At the desk, you’ll prepare discharge and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits for discharge sources including appropriate limitations and monitoring requirements.

You’ll review and process permit to install (PTI) applications, engineering designs, sludge management plans, SSES and operational analyses for wastewater treatment systems for compliance with state and federal standards and guidelines.

As subject matter expert, you’ll provide engineering and technical assistance to public officials, industry representatives, consultants, and the public regarding wastewater treatment and applicable federal and state regulations and requirements.

  • Track compliance of wastewater treatment plants and prepares resolutions for non-compliance issues.
  • Review and process permit to install applications, facility plans, and operational analyses.
  • Write wastewater discharge permits including appropriate limitations and monitoring requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external constituents.
