A position as an Engineering Technician with the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) might be a great fit for you! 

This position will provide engineering assistance to landowners, groups, and local government to maintain a variety of conservation projects in the Rome, GA area. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Making site evaluations to assess the need for engineering measures and making or recommending preliminary alternatives or improvements.
  • Designing and planning engineering practices and structures for a variety of conservation programs, including assembly of complete packages of drawings and specifications for jobs and preparing drawings using CADD and manual methods. 
  • Inspecting work under construction and maintaining construction inspection records.
  • Determining the type, scope, and intensity of field investigations and surveys.
  • Collecting field data, processing and plotting data related to engineering practices, and ensuring that procedures and products conform to current service policy and standards.
