Water Resource Specialist

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Water Services Department is seeking a Water Resource Specialist to participate in the development, design, and implementation of the Department's water conservation programs. The Water Resource Specialist is assigned to operate specific educational programming, targeting diverse audiences or members of the community. Additionally, the Water Resource Specialist may be asked to perform other tasks incumbent on a specialist on the water conservation team, including implementing technical or regulatory programs, and/or to conduct research, evaluation, and statistical analyses to determine the effectiveness of water conservation programs. This position will interact with internal Divisions, other City Departments, and external representatives. There are currently two vacancies in the Conservation CARES team (Community Action, Resilience, Engagement, and Solutions) in the Water Resources Section. This position reports to the Water Conservation Policy Manager, who supervises some of the Department's water conservation functions.

Other duties include but are not limited to: 

Utilizing strategic methods to present water use and conservation information for diverse audiences with the goal of increasing overall understanding and engagement.

Identifying current or impending problems, creating solutions, and evaluating other proposed alternatives to adapt during possible drought and shortage.

Engaging with community stakeholders, including members of the public and elected officials, to facilitate discussions about water conservation solutions.

Conducting community outreach and implementing programs that lower barriers and increase participation for the Department's water conservation solutions.

Managing volunteers, coordinating staff during outreach, and creating positive environments for embedded community engagement and education.

SALARY

$60,029.00 - $76,627.00 annually.
