General Description: This is a technical position responsible for the advanced administration, support and maintenance of the entire SQL Server Enterprise Database Management System Stack and Databases of Medium to High Complexity.  Additionally, this position will be required to help the county transition to AI data readiness and other AI initiatives.  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Administer SQL Server Database Services, Integration Services (SSIS), REporting Services (SSRS), Analysis Services (SSAS), Power BI Premium/Pro Service, and Power BI Report Server.
  • Learn and implement AI technologies as the County transitions towards AI-driven projects and initiatives.
  • Install, create, maintain, configure, and ensure the integrity of Microsoft SQL Server instances and databases.
  • Implement critical patching on SQL Server OS and apply SQL Server Service Packs and Cumulative Updates across all environments )Sandbox, Test, QA, Production).
  • Secure SQL Server instances and databases, providing key access control.
  • Execute automated monitoring of the SQL Server environment, managing storage, resource capacity, and performance.
  • Administer SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data backup and recovery. Formulate and monitor related policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Utilize the County's software to support SQL Server backup and recovery processes.
  • Administer, manager, monitor, and support SQL Server Power BI and Reporting Services environments both on-premises and in the cloud.  Manage data lake and Power BI security, access to reports, dashboards, and data sources.
  • Work closely with IT teams, including application development, report developers, product manager, business analysts, and SMEs to understand and support SQL Server data warehouse/lake/marts ETL administration in support of Power BI.
  • Administer, automate, and support ETL and SSIS across environments, including Power Automate ETL flows, Power BI Dataflows, Power Query, Power BI Designer, data lineage ETL tools, and related jobs.
  • Assist in Power BI report creation and provide high-level support for report development and troubleshooting, Monitor and manage performance and schedules of data sources, reports, and Semantic Model refreshes.
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams for database migrations, upgrades, deployments, modifications, changes, refreshes, and the automation of database processes.
  • Provide support for query optimization, stored procedures, triggers, indexes, and more to ensure system performance.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of  SQL Server and Windows OS, Including administration, maintenance, and support.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server components, including SQL Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Knowledge of relational databases, database design, and database management.
  • Knowledge of creating and troubleshooting reports with SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) and developing Business Intelligence dashboards using Power BI.
  • Skilled in TSQL, DAX, C#, and PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of ETL practices and the development of ETL workflows using SQL Integration Services (SSIS) and Visual Studio.
  • Proficient in using SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, VS Code, SQL Report Builder, Power BI Desktop, DAX Studio, Azure Data Studio, and Excel.
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities and manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Knowledge of AI tools technologies and principles.

Minimum Requirements:

PHYSICAL SKILLS:  Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication. 

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field and six (6) years' experience in development and maintenance of relational database systems; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field and eight (8) years' experience in development and maintenance of relational database systems; OR graduation from High School or possession of an acceptable general equivalency diploma and ten (10) years' experience in development and maintenance of database systems and Microsoft Database Administrator Certification.  

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:  Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
