Fish Hatchery Biological Aide

The Grace Fish Hatchery is seeking one (1) temporary Biological Aide (non-benefited) to assist in daily hatchery operations during the 2025 season. Ideal start date is 01/07/2025. The primary mission of the hatchery is to produce fish for Southeast Idaho lakes, reservoirs, rivers and streams. Additional fish are also produced to meet statewide stocking requests as needed.

Primary fish production is Rainbow Trout catchables and fingerlings. Sterile Lake Trout fingerlings are also produced for Stanley Lake. Through cooperation with PacifiCorp, Bear River Bonneville Cutthroat Trout are also being produced at the hatchery to assist with conservation and restoration efforts.

General Information - Incumbents must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., work in adverse weather conditions, and able to operate UTVs. Onsite housing provided if necessary. Weekend & holiday rotation work required; work 40 hours per week.


Responsibilities - Perform routine fish culture duties at a sport-fish production and conservation species fish hatchery. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: assist with trapping, spawning, & rearing of Bonneville Cutthroat Trout, weighing fish feed & feeding fish, cleaning rearing vessels, maintaining grounds & equipment, operating fish loading & transport equipment, stocking fish.


Qualifications - Applicants must be able to interact with the public in a professional and positive manner, work independently and with a team, and follow set protocols on hatchery operations. Applicants should be detail oriented, self-motivated, and safety conscious. Previous work experience and/or education in Aquaculture, Natural Resources or Biological Science preferred but not mandatory.
