This position serves as a IES (Integrated Eligibility System) Database Support Analyst supporting the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) collaborating with technical support personnel and program administrators to support an extensive array of complex relational databases and end user applications. In this role, you will plan, analyze, design, and implement complex enterprise-wide relational database structures.
Analyzes and tunes database structures in consultation with other technical experts. In addition, you will maintain departmental goals of integrated data architecture while striving to improve system performance and optimal use of computer systems.

Essential Functions
- Under administrative direction, serves as a IES Database Support Analyst for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), performing complex professional and advisory functions in the maintenance of the DB2 and SQL Server relational database structures.
- Collaborates with technical support personnel and program administrators to support an extensive array of complex relational databases and end user applications.
- Plans, analyzes, designs, and implements complex enterprise-wide relational database structures.
- Analyzes and tunes database structures in consultation with other technical experts.
- Coordinates or conducts the implementation of the changes to both enterprise and tactical databases of a critical nature.
- Maintains departmental goals of integrated data architecture while striving to improve system performance and optimal use of computer systems.
- Provides database software consultation services to agency developers of large complex computer systems.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology field by continuing education through meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience in Application Services or a related Information Technology field.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)
- Three (3) years of professional application experience with DB2 and SQL Server relational database software.
- Three (3) years of professional application experience planning, analyzing, designing, and implementing relational database structures.
- Two (2) years of experience conducting feasibility studies for system conversions and enhancements.
- One (1) year of professional experience developing reports and projections.
- Working knowledge of mainframe and midrange platforms.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision.
- Ability to analyze and diagnose system issues and coordinate efforts to resolve.
- Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships.
