CT Scan Technologist - Full Time Evenings (East Hampton Emergency Department)
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Maintain and exhibit behavior that promotes patient confidence and trust. Capable of working independently/unsupervised. Demonstrate proficiency in the performance of Cat Scan Imaging Exams. Demonstrate proficiency in the use and application of pediatric immobilization devices adhering to safety precautions. Must produce computerized tomographic scanner Radiographs of designated anatomical areas as ordered/directed according to established policies and procedures. Must prepare or enter written documentation as required by the Department, such as informed patient consent, patient chart documentation, and other related duties. Must observe sterile and aseptic techniques when necessary. Check equipment, supplies, and accessories on a regular basis. Asses the physical needs of the adult and geriatric patients. Demonstrate the ability to recognize and ally patients' fears and apprehensions about exams. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas. Complete requested examinations in a timely manner, observing radiation safety standards. Address the special needs of each age group served and assist in making reasonable accommodations for the hearing impaired, physically challenged or any other patients who may enter the Hospital. Observe bio-safety and Radiation safety rules and regulations. Responsibilities and duties may be added, changed, or deleted at any time at the discretion of the Director/Assistant Director of Radiology, either verbally or in writing. Performs related duties in PACS. Responsible for knowing and adhering to established hospital/department policies and procedures, including all aspects of safety. Must complete requested examinations in a timely manner, observing radiation safety standards. Must be computer literate. Must select and operate equipment as directed. Must be aware and able to prevent Sentinel Events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of diagnostic and CAT scan imaging examinations.
- Maintain established Department policies and procedures.
- Verifies the correct patient for the procedure by checking the name on the patient's requisitions with the name on the patient's name band.
- Explains the procedure to the patient before the exam is performed. Answers questions completely in lay terminology.
- Correctly labels images with patient identification.
- Prepares or enters written documentation as required by the Department, such as informed consent, patient chart documentation, and other related functions.
- Checks requested examinations in a timely manner, utilizing professional technical skills efficiently.
- Transports patient to and from radiographic
- Sends images to PACS including evaluating images for technical quality.
- Performs portable and Operating Room / CT examinations in a professional and timely manner.
- Demonstrates proficiency in dealing with patients of all age groups.
- Observes other Hospital rules, policies, and regulations with regard to the following areas: attendance, punctuality, attitude, courtesy and respect for co-workers.
- Address the special needs of each age group served and assists in making reasonable accommodations for the hearing impaired, physically challenged or any other patient who may enter the Hospital.
- Demonstrates appropriate understanding of the needs of patients and visitors for each specific age group.
- Willingly accepts additional related responsibilities delegated by the Lead, Assistant Director/Administrator.
- Maintains confidentiality of all personnel and patient information and patient information including electronic and print.
- Able to make CDs and print films form PACS.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate
- Graduate of Radiology Program,
- NYSDOH License, ARRT
- CT Certification / Certified to inject (preferred)
- Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association required
- Computer knowledge preferred

- Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
