Job Description Summary
Selected applicants will be interviewed to establish a pool of approved Emergency Medical Services (EMT or Paramedic) instructors for possible part-time teaching assignments in the Nursing and Allied Health Division. Applicants may be offered additional assignments in the discipline for which they qualify. Assignments may be day, evening, or weekend classes at the San Luis Obispo Campus and North County Campus in Paso Robles.

Essential Functions & Qualifications
To be considered for the EMT and or Paramedic discipline:
Required:
-Any Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment;
OR
-Any Associate's degree from an accredited institution and six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment;
OR
-The equivalent. (Candidates applying on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment. OR
-A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).
Also Required:
-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Preferred:
For Paramedic Pool:
-Each training program shall have a principal instructor(s), who may also be the program clinical coordinator or program director, who shall be qualified by education and experience with at least forty (40) hours of documented teaching methodology instruction in areas related to methods, materials, and evaluation of instruction and shall meet the following qualifications:(1) Be a Physician, Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Paramedic currently licensed in California; or,(2) Be an Advanced EMT or EMT who is currently certified in California.(3) Have at least two (2) years of academic or clinical experience in the practice of emergency medicine or prehospital care in the last five (5) years.(4) Be approved by the program director in coordination with the program clinical coordinator as qualified to teach the topics to which s/he is assigned. For EMT Pool:-Each CCP training program shall have a principal instructor(s) who is either licensed in California as a physician with knowledge in the subject matter, a registered nurse knowledgeable in the subject matter, or a paramedic with current CCP certification or a flight paramedic (FP) certification from the International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC) Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification (BCCTPC).View Document - California Code of Regulations (westlaw.com)
