Masters Level Clinician
A Masters Level Clinician, under general supervision, performs evidence-based practice according to nationally-recognized standards to reduce symptoms and maximize recovery for individuals receiving services. A Masters Level Clinician ensures that all documentation of client contact and treatment services is complete, thorough, and accurate, to meet all agency, state, and professional standards. An employee in this class writes initial assessments that accurately build on strengths and deficits resulting in a DSM diagnosis. These assessments will include a history of mental health treatment, relevant family history, and current treatment recommendations. A Masters Level Clinician develops person-centered treatment plans that are written in the language of the consumer and reflect the consumer’s goals and measurable objectives. A Master’s Level Clinician may be required to be in an on-call rotation and performs other work duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications
- Must obtain a Masters degree from an accredited college or university with a major of Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling, OR be eligible to graduate within 90 days of application and able to submit an official transcript upon appointment to position.
- Have one (1) year of previous experience working with persons with developmental disabilities, mental illness and/or serious emotional disturbance; please note, internships count as work experience if they are documented in the Work Experience section of the employment application;
- Have or obtain a State of Michigan Limited or Full Masters Social Worker license, Limited or Full Marriage and Family Therapist License, Limited or Full Professional Counselor license, or Temporary or Limited Masters Psychologist license, or Full Psychologist License within 90 days of appointment.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Michigan Driver License within 30 days of employment.
- Must have reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.
B. Preferred but not Required
- Bilingual candidates highly desired.
- Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
- Individuals in Recovery and individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.
Physical Conditions / Work Location
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class generally performs sedentary work requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
A Masters Level Clinician generally works at the various HealthWest program locations; however, travel to locations within the County may be required.

EVALUATION CONTENT
Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
