To be considered for a Lateral Hire, an applicant must:
Have fulfilled the requirements of the Illinois Police Training Act
Be a full time sworn officer of a regular police department in any municipal, county, university or State law enforcement agency, provided that they are certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board and have been with their respective law enforcement agency within the State for at least two (2) years
Be a citizen of the United States
Be able to speak and read the English language
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver's License
Be of good moral character
Be able to perform all the duties and tasks assigned to a Worth Police Officer
Applicants must successfully pass an oral interview, and a background investigation.
Applicants must also meet the criteria established by Illinois State Statutes and the Worth Police and Fire Commissioners.
After a conditional job offer, but prior to actual employment, a candidate must pass a medical exam, all in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
