Behavior Technician
General Information
Willamette Education Service District is accepting applications for a full-time (40 hours per week) Behavior Technican position. Successful candidate will work as a member of the Special Education Department and will follow a 187-day calendar. This position will be based at the Willamette ESD Yamhill Center in McMinnville, OR and will begin as soon as possible upon conclusion of the selection process.
Salary and Benefits
- This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) Classified position represented by the Oregon School Employees Association.
- Placement on the Willamette ESD Classified Salary Schedule Range 17, Step 1-6; ($24.10-$30.72 per hour) will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training and experience.
- Willamette ESD supports payment for health, dental and vision insurance premiums for eligible employees. Employer-paid PERS, holidays, sick leave, and personal days are also provided to eligible employees.
JOB SUMMARY
The Behavior Technician supports students in kindergarten through 12th grade within a therapeutic school setting for students who have educational and emotional needs. They assist licensed staff with student instruction and the implementation of student plans including Individualized Education Plans, Behavior Support Plans, Safety plans, Collaborative Problem Solving, including Plan B conversations, as well as with other relevant plans designed to support students academically and emotionally. The Behavior Technician possesses knowledge and skills to provide proactive and direct instruction to students within a classroom and school setting in the areas of behavioral, social, academic, emotional, and personal needs under the guidance of licensed staff. In addition, the Behavior Technician must be able to collect, chart, and review behavioral and therapeutic data in order to collaborate with school staff on the development and monitoring of student progress and interventions. Experience and the ability to support all students across school settings, especially during times of escalation by remaining calm and following student plans and school based systems is essential for safety and success. The Behavior Technician must possess knowledge and skills to perform essential duties and responsibilities in an skilled and proficient manner.
