Indiana Packers Corporation is in Delphi, Indiana, just 15 minutes away from the greater Lafayette/West Lafayette area, home of Purdue University. This is an onsite, 1st shift position.
Summary: The Purchasing Agent will coordinate with all departments to continually re-evaluate and reduce spend. This position is responsible for procuring the necessary components, as requisitioned, for manufacturing, repairs and services. The Purchasing Clerk will collaborate with all departments to improve processes to reduce cost. This position will build relationships with all suppliers and be a common contact.
Responsibilities:
- Work with MRO for Delphi Plant / DC / Frankfort locations.
- Create and Process PO's from requisitions issued
- Set up pickup and delivery appointments for orders
- Confirm all PO's with written confirmations, before orders are received
- Follow-up as necessary
- Capex
- Work with Engineering Project Managers for quotations and propose potential options
- Monitor PO's vs quotes/confirmations for any PPV deviations from original scope
- Departmental Spend
- Work with department heads to source, quote, and obtain items
- Review spends per department, conducting regular reviews
- Work with Maintenance, Utilities, and Engineering Departments to source the best possible suppliers
- Create and manage an organized "ONE SOURCE OF TRUTH" database and workflow for master data
- Work with maintenance to develop cost saving strategies
- Continually consolidate and bucketize spend across all departments, with proper vetting
- Record detailed data for all Purchasing projects, budget reductions, and cost savings
- Work with Director of Indirect Procurement to set up SOP's and create competitive pricing structures
- Work with accounting to rectify all relevant invoicing issues
- Work with all departments on M3 integration and training, as needed
- Perform other tasks or duties as required or needed
Qualifications:
- Associates, Bachelor's degree in finance, supply chain management or related field; Will accept 3-5 years of equivalent business experience in a Supply Chain or Operations environment.
- 1 + year experience working in a purchasing, inventory, finance environment.
- 2 -3 + years of experience in an industrial environment required.
- Previous food processing or distribution experience is preferred.
- Understands basic USDA, FDA, and Food Manufacturing processes and guidelines
- Proficiency with MS Office and software M3 preferred or similar ERP systems

Physical Requirements:
Work is primarily performed in an office & plant environment requiring the ability to sit, talk, hear, frequent walking, standing, and sitting; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Ability to use standard office equipment such as telephone, computer, and copier.
