The responsibilities of this position include:
- Maintain a caseload of at-risk or medium-/high-risk probation-involved juveniles and their families participating in a family therapy program;
- Conduct assessments for families referred to the program to include reviewing referral information, identifying and engaging involved participants in the therapy process, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and analyzing problem behaviors within an ecological context;
- Provide intensive, therapeutic family-based services in the family’s home and/or community;
- Engage all family participants in active, change-oriented treatment;
- Identify problems contributing to delinquent behavior, develop treatment plans, and implement interventions using methods compatible with the principles and practices of the therapeutic model;
- Maintain documentation of treatment efforts and receive peer and supervisory feedback;
- Collaborate with involved participants in all relevant systems serving the family to increase engagement and address areas of need holistically;
- Participate in quarterly booster trainings and weekly team meetings;
- Consult with probation staff as needed to assist with case planning and addressing treatment barriers;
- Provide after-hours phone coverage to address crisis situations using a rotating team schedule;
- Facilitate relevant psychoeducational workshops for parents and other duties as assigned.
Requirements for this position include:
- Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or other field that will qualify the applicant to obtain a clinical license in Illinois.
- Must either be clinically licensed as an LCPC, LCSW, or LMFT at time of application OR must obtain clinical licensure (i.e., completed supervised clinical practice and passed examinations) within 6 months of becoming eligible as outlined in Illinois licensing regulations.
- The preferred candidate will have experience and/or training in family therapy (structural, strategic and functional family therapy), systems and ecological approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy, child development, and social skills assessment and development.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license with the ability to drive.
- The Juvenile Justice Clinician will be expected to work later afternoon/early evening hours Monday through Thursday to offer sessions that accommodate school and work schedules for families.
- Bilingual capabilities are preferred but not required.
