AmeriCorps GED Classroom Assistant

Member Duties : High School and GED Classroom Assistants must be role models and provide leadership for at-risk teens and young adults. You will be assisting the teacher in a credit recovery/vocational training program. Classroom duties include tutoring, preparing & presenting lesson plans, assisting with group projects, documentation, redirecting students, & helping students access community resources. Applicants should be 18-28 years old, have experience working with youth and a desire to work in an educational setting. $2400/monthly stipend

Service Description : Join our YouthBuild program at American YouthWorks (AYW), a national leader in combining green building with affordable housing and education. We work with unemployed youth who are not in school, helping them earn their GED or high school diploma while gaining hands-on job training and personal development. As a Classroom Assistant, you’ll play a key leadership role in both the classroom and on vocational sites. You'll be a role model, guiding at-risk teens and young adults, tutoring, preparing lesson plans, and helping create meaningful service projects. Our AmeriCorps members serve 1,700 hours full-time (M-F, 8-5), receive a living stipend, health benefits, and an educational award.
